August 26th, 2009

Wow, work is BUSY! I realize I give way too much homework or at least homework that I do not need to be collecting every single time. I need to start taking up hwk in class and checking for completion instead of making corrections... wow... so different from Bendale. GO TIGERS!!!

Coaching the U14 here is very different. These kids are YOUNG but extremely energetic, listens to instructions and we'll have a great year. I'll update on our season cause it should be a good one! GO ICS WARRIORS!!!

Work's been going great. I think the students get better and better every day and I'm learning more and more about what they know and don't know. It's tough going from one system to a totally different one. Making too many assumptions and you know what happens when you assume... *sigh*

God is also very very very good. Really stretching me and opening my eyes to see my call here in Hong Kong and where my ministry lies which is right here at ICS. These students have so much potential to change the world for God and I can't wait to see it happen. Thanks for all those back in Toronto that taught me sooo much about youth... you know who you are.

180, the young adult service at The Vine has been a HUGE spiritual feeding ground as well. God has shown and taught me so much through the church and really learning to live in the Spirit (Romans 6-8). Wow, never really seen those verses come to life like that before.

PLUS (a small group that i've been attending on Monday nights) has been a blessing. Still praying hard to see if this is the group God wants me to commit to. It's different from Level 2, of course, but sometimes different is good.

What else??

August 18th, 2009

What is there to update really? what do you guys want to know?

Students are good... they do things really fast and pretty well.. like handing in work before they are due.. that's a totally new concept to me but it's good... i'm getting to know their names but it's still tough.. i don't see them enough

180 is good. 180 is a young adult service I go to every Saturday night. God has definitely been speaking to me about different things. We've been looking at Romans 6, 7, and 8 and WOW.. good stuff

been hanging out with my cousins... one of the younger ones wanted to learn guitar so he can play worship at church so that was awesome and i watched a vball game with another cousin.. the atmosphere for live sports here is different from Toronto. I didn't yell that much or stand or even boooo cause no one else was. It was just sitting there and clapping.. kinda boring

might be coaching vball this year again but i'll let you guys know more about that later when it actually happens... it's not as hardcore as i would like it but different culture, different city

i think that's it for now.. nething else?

August 14th - first official day of school

so my mailing address is:

Samuel Wong
1 On Muk Lane
Shek Mun, Shatin, N.T. Hong Kong

so today was the first day of school and it was pretty tiring... i teach a total of 5 classes and the school runs on a six day rotation where each day there are 4 courses...

today i taught 4 out of my 5 courses + 1 study hall period meaning that tomorrow... i only have to teach ONE CLASS!!! which is great on a friday and it's relaxing too... i can get work done

it's really weird having students that listen and are motivated to do work... it's obviously different from last year as the students and dynamics of the school is totally different but i'm not use to it yet... i will soon i hope

anything crazy happen today? not really... there's a lot of students names to remember and they all kinda look the same cuz they're all in uniform so even style looks the same. I have 2 twins in 3 of my classes so i didn't even realize they were sisters until the end of the class.... that was kinda embarrassing but pretty funny nonetheless

friday tomorrow so it was a short week.. next week i'll have a full 5 day week including 3 "odd" days meaning i'll be teaching throughout the day.. i actually like it a lot

taught my cousin guitar today at my place which was AWESOME!! God is soooo good.. we sat down, he prayed for dinner and we ate.. then we went through some chords and strumming.. just like how i was taught.. thanks justin, tim, leo, jer :D

think that's it for tonight... gonna sleep early :D PEACE OUT!!!

August 12th, 2009

so... let's see how long this can last for... i'll do my best to update but again... i said that for my last blog

school officially started today and saw all my classes.. wow are they different from the ones last year... all in uniform and actually paying attention to what was being said..

the school is good.. i will definitely take photos and put it up cuz the place is pretty big.. those who are coming to visit and staying with me is in for a huge suprise and just very rare comfort living in HK

i'll talk more about the school and the different things that happen here as they happen.. you'll hear words like advisory or MAD or WWW and they all stand for something... let's hope I remember to say what it is

OH... one huge update is that my parents have sold the house in Toronto so for all those that have been in it and been blessed by it... it's time to say good-bye to it... AND to help my parents move when time comes :D i'm gonna miss the place... oh so many childhood, highschool, university, young adult memories... i have seriously been living there since i was 4... i'm sad but life happens right?

going to keep this short and try to update more.. PEACE OUT!!!
